Bradley Barton Primary School and Nursery

Based in Newton Abbott, Devon, Bradley Barton Primary School and Nursery prides itself on its vision: “All inspired to learn and inspired learning for all”. At Bradley Barton, learners are immersed in creative experiences which inspire them to become enquiring, reflective and self motivated individuals.

It should come as no surprise, then, that this school was proactively seeking out the latest technology and classroom equipment to provide pupils with immersive and creative learning experiences.

A recommendation from a neighbouring school led Deputy Headteacher Andrew Wootton to the Utility Rentals classroom equipment range.

After consulting with the Utility Rentals team, Andrew selected three product ranges for Bradley Barton:

  • iPads managed with Jamf School MDM
  • Lego Education – WeDo sets
  • Sphero Mini’s

The school was considering purchasing some or all of the products needed, but Utility Rentals’ end-to-end service demonstrated the value of renting instead. Spreading the cost over 3 years and receiving a comprehensive support package that included protection in the event of damage, were key factors in Bradley Barton’s decision to rent, instead of purchase, the products they needed.

So, how have the children been getting on with their new equipment? According to Andrew: “Children and teachers have begun using the coding robots for various means leading to high levels of engagement and anticipation. One year group has experienced the coding robots and has thoroughly enjoyed the experience whilst also learning the foundations of coding”.

As for the experience with the iPads: “Children have only recently started using the iPads but where they have been used children have been very engaged. They have been used for star gazing apps, green screen, stop motion animation and film making.”

We were delighted when Andrew said he was “very likely” to recommend Utility Rentals to other schools, and we especially appreciate his praise of our team member Rabia who “has supported [the school] through the process and has been extremely helpful and prompt.”

We hope the students of Bradley Barton Primary School and Nursery enjoy their new iPads, Lego WeDo sets and Sphero Mini’s, and that they contribute significantly to their learning journey.
