For Utility Rentals, our appeal to schools is increasingly dependent on our niche within the education sector. We don’t just provide leases for customers, we provide compliant leases and comprehensive customer service for schools specifically. We’ve been working in the education sector for over three decades, and it’s at the very heart of our business!
In this article, we reflect on our core business of leasing to schools and why it offers our customers so many benefits.
What makes us different?
On reaching the close of our 2020-2021 financial year (which ends in September), we are delighted to have seen impressive results. The past year’s performance has really demonstrated to us that, as specialist education funders, we stand out amongst our competitors!
Utility Rentals is uniquely dedicated to providing end-to-end equipment solutions for schools. Our flexible, straightforward leases for equipment allow schools to access the high-quality equipment they want and need, but might otherwise be unable to afford.
Part of what makes us unique is that we’re an independent company. We are fortunate to have established links with key suppliers and we don’t rely on third-party funding. This means we benefit from pre-negotiated, competitive rates and can pass these savings on to you – our customers!
Many other funders of school equipment work with both public and private sector customers. While these funders have been able to meet schools’ needs in the past, several of them are now shifting away from schools altogether. The main reason for this is difficulty complying with the sector’s rules and standards – something which we excel in!
Our commitment to compliance
Compliance with education sector legislation is integral to our approach. Although many of our competitors might be struggling with this, we never compromise in this area. All of our leasing agreements and subscription services run on compliant operating leases. We also operate with integrity and transparency (with clear paperwork and terms) and provide leases that meet the standards of:
- The Department for Education
- The Financial Leasing Association (FLA)
- The Institute for School Business Leadership (ISBL)
Our most popular equipment
This financial year, ending in September, has been our strongest ever. By being fully compliant and specialising in education sector funding, we’ve made record sales with new and existing school customers.
A thriving part of our business today is iPad and laptop leasing. As education technology continues to grow, we’ve been supplying schools with up-to-date and accessible devices to enhance students’ learning. With our flexible leasing terms, schools are continuing to access high-quality, up-to-date IT equipment affordably.
Another growing aspect of our business is renewable energy equipment. Understandably, many schools have had an increasing appetite for switching to renewables. As SALIX loans and the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme have been heavily oversubscribed, schools have turned to us to make sustainable changes. For example, we’ve provided them with LED lighting and energy-efficient hand dryers with our Capital Free Scheme.
As the financial year draws to a close, Utility Rentals is confident in its unique appeal and service to schools.
